Juist island, Germany
Seeing the sea for the first time completely changed something in me. Infinite horizon with its waves, the sand that covered my feet and the noise that gave the life to this mental image commanded me to create this sculpture. The feeling was so strong that I didn’t want to leave it behind, so I decided to build a gate that would connect the real world to the imaginary one that I felt. You move in and out of the gate by swinging, temporarily getting close to the described emotions and then starting the whole loop again.
The Gate is built on the island of Juist facing the North Sea.
