VERTICAL

Broadcasting of the conclusive moment in restoration of 11th century church Bagrati has been transmitted in every mainstream media outlet. If we forget particular political actors and particular political situation (elections on the doorsteps) and just look at the structure of this material it'll be clear that it describes the structure of the Vertical. As soon as highest political and highest religious symbols gather at the same space (president installing the cross on top of the historic church). The moment this two symbols gather, dissolve into each other in one space, it immediately creates a vertical structure, where at the top of this vertical you get highest political and religious symbols and on the other end subjects of this symbolic unity - people. This phenomena is to be found in many other materials I have selected for my research. Confusion of spaces or things that supposed to be separated (simple things like political power from religious power) two contradicting entities suddenly cross over or dissolve into each other. It is almost as if one would come up with HOT ice-cream, or hard liquid or flying alligator... this confusion of two impossible things is almost uniquely a sign of the time. Nothing characterizes our society in transformation from one formation into another better than this confusions.But This kind of confusions are happening time and time again, in fact that is the main source of the conflicts in our society and it continues up until now. This particular topic is just representing the phenomena most vividly, and that is why it has become the subject of the mosaic as well.
