"Anatomy of Georgian Melancholy", Lado Pochkhua's Personal Exhibition [National Gallery]
Lado Pochkhua was born in Sukhumi. Due to the events in the country in 1993, he was forced to move to Tbilisi. He received his professional education at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts, and since 2004 he has lived and worked in the United States. Regularly participates in various group exhibitions, teaches drawing in a personal studio. It is noteworthy that many of his students are Georgians living in the United States. Lado Pochkhua is also a visiting lecturer at Columbia University, where he lectures on Georgian art.
The author's work is inspired by his past. The author describes the works presented at the exhibition as follows: “I owe the existence of this project to my memory and the circumstances, which I could not change. The photographs taken at this exhibition are stages of my journey from refugee life to human life. "
Among the most important recent exhibitions of the author are his personal exhibition in Budapest, the Prague Biennale and the group exhibition in Leibniz. In November, following the completion of the Artisterium, the author will hold a solo exhibition at the Brooklyn Box Gallery in New York.
