Sand Glass - Kote Jincharadze

2019

The “Hourglass” is the second part of the author’s research (Trilogy) of time phenomenon. The first project “Substances of time” was exhibited at the Artarella Gallery in 2015 and focused on the mechanics of time, the surface and interior. The main theme of “the Hourglass” is playing through time. The sand sifts through, gets lost, disappears, sneaks away. Just like the seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years, centuries.

The sand doesn’t go anywhere, it only moves in turns, from one triangle to another, and vice versa. It exists until we exist, until we are turning the two matter that are connected with each other through a tiny glass exit. The hourglass is a free interpretation of an artistic-scientific research and analysis, where the main course of the creative process lies in the idea of playing with stones.

The interconnectedness of the two triangles gives a schematic picture of the visual structure of life. The sand in the three-dimensional glass space also confirms the true fact of coexistence of three-dimensional time.

The essence and aim of the game is to build a general structure of an artificial configuration of the natural condition of the sand through its constituent parts such as stones, pebbles and rocks.

The constant movements of deployments in the space, as an unstable and a permanently variable component, creates and establishes a mechanism for manipulating the constituent parts of the time, which determines the overall strategic nature of the content. Where every human being, as a member of the society seeks their own principles of the game. Each and every one of us can identify the deep links and analogues between things and events in completely different spheres.

This is a game without any precise and already given rules. A game, that is a form of consciousness and thinking. With very specific silhouettes and distinctive contours, all the while being of vague and irrational explanations and definitions.
