Where it pours gleam [Gallery 4710]
Salome Dumbadze's show 'Where it pours gleam' responds to the stereotypes attached to gender identity, questioning and therefore, re-thinking them.
The exposition is built by the objects, which, through their form, material, and color, underline the feminine aesthetics dictated to the generations.
There's a passive disturbance behind the glittery, well-known feminine environment - is it the society giving the instructions or does the gender identity truly tie with the color pink?
In spite of the disturbance, you still embrace the reflected gleam, which excites you at first but the rest of the time, it only blinds your eye.
Salome Dumbadze is a Tbilisi based artist. Her work centers around traditional painting but also involves experiments with different materials and media. Salome's paintings show specific subjects in empty spaces, that usually are covered by rhythmic lines and complete tones. Her works usually act as documentations of straightforward or indirect observations as a way of perceiving and learning. May this be reflections from childhood sensations or re-evaluation of specific emotions.
'Where it pours gleam' is the first solo show of the artist.
Artworks are made especially for this exhibition.
