Temo Javakhi Solo Show
Temo Javakhishvili started his career as the director and one of the co-founders , actors and artists of Tbilisi State Marionette Theatre. Since 1976 he has actively participated in exhibitions of visual art. In 1983 Temo Javakhishvili started intensive work in the field of contemporary art. The development of his work in contemporary art, as well as the opinions of outstanding local and international theatre theorists, art critics and curators point to Temo Javakhishvili’s tendency to reject well established cliches and avoid treading the ,,paved’’ path. He does not accept homogeneous artistic stylistics and combines various works of art, artistic forms and contextual strategies.
His original art, as a sample of evolution of unexplored trands is monumental and represents one of the most important examples of Georgian avant-garde. One of the points of interest is , that he uses Georgian and foreign alphabets in his work, as well as various other written symbols, conceptual texts, totemic signs of different ages and graphical equivalent of Morse code as an “intimate poetry” and means of communication. T.Javakhishvili’s minimalistic, visual and graphical poetry samples are often used in visual art-objects, which are considered among some of the most outstanding phenomenae of Georgian Modern Poetry.
Theatre, visual art and artistic performance play an equally significant role in his art, but Javakhishvili is also considered as one of the founders of the Georgian video art. In this field, his most distinguished work is titled ,,Silk Man’’, which is a video piece created by the artist in 1993-1994 and it represents the classic Georgian video art. The overall “texture” of this work, the sound, the poetry and the conceptual texts are executed with great professionalism, expression and it is truly excellent.
Gallery ,,Vanda’’ is pleased to invite you to this extraordinary artist’s personal exhibition, which will focus on his works of painting.
