Content of the Body - Luiza Laperadze

2018

Luiza Laperadze’s solo show სხეულის შინა არსი’ / ‘Content of the Body’ presented works created during the last few years. Presented objects are focused on the identification of a body and an item. How color, form, clothes, body gain meanings for a human being? Plain-spoken, a free monologue about the artist’s personal experiences challenges the viewer to transform the monologue into the dialogue.

Works are created around everyday life, social, political issues. Cultural layers, filters, taboos and habits, which are formed in the beginning of our lives, or gain form over our lifetime, in a  particular moment, is part of universal history, social, political life and in the same time, it is highly private.

Presented works contain stories from the artist’s biography, situations, which are transformed in different media. Gypsum, wooden objects, cloth, clay, wall painting and video show us the gaze, directed to the inner, personal experiences. Cultural norms, rules offered by the society and culture, are shown freely, open, as their deconstruction, process of understanding. It can give a birth to another order.
