Exhibition of VA[A]DS Students Groupshow "AND"
And is used as a function word to indicate connection or addition, especially of items within the same class or type, used to join sentence elements of the same function. It’s a universal word, which helps us to connect all kinds of things, also notions/subjects that have nothing in common, ”and” unites them as a one.
Project “and” has one main purpose to make new connections, between the new generation of contemporary Georgian artists, and working together.
The connection between those artists is varied. Some of them have never met, some of them are close friends. One thing that unites them is that all of them are artists and they work in Tbilisi. Their collaborations and working in the same abandoned space is the main idea of the show. Most importantly, after the show connections between artists stay, and they continue to work together.
The space, where artists are making their intervention is an abandoned gym of a school, with a swimming pool, tennis and basketball court. People lost connection with this soviet building although it connects with a working public school through a bridge. The only thing telling us stories about people, who were here for the last 25 years, is texts on the walls.
