Tbilisi Photography and Multimedia Museum
Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum (TPMM) is the first institution in Georgia entirely dedicated to contemporary image in its different forms - photography, new media, video. Through exhibitions, debates, and educational programs, TPMM is an independent platform that promotes photography as a catalyst for social and cultural changes in Georgia, the South Caucasus, and the world. The museum is located at the Stamba Hotel - an old Soviet-era publishing house that has been transformed into a boutique hotel. Founded in 2017 by a team of female professionals, TPMM is a non-governmental, non-profit organization.
The creation of the museum was made possible through the support of two main partners: TPMM was opened within the long-term project "Photography Hub for Education and Innovation" (PHEI) funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in the space of Stamba Hotel that was given by Adjara Group.
The Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum aims to use photography as a catalyst for initiating social and cultural changes in Georgia and SC region, to become a hub for educational and artistic activities based on innovative approaches.
The PHEI library currently relies on donations to produce its outstanding collection. The donated collection of photobooks brings together a remarkable selection of regional and international photographers’ books. It is the first and only significant photobook library in the whole South Caucasus region.
